I was on a group ride back in October, with a bunch of folks much younger than me (very welcoming group). I was on another bike that night, but a newcomer to the group was riding a Cresty. I haven't seen her or it since.
Another tall one I couldn't resist (I'm 1.93 m/6'4") Non original forks, bought the frame and forks on eBay very cheap, and included the rare downtube shifter boss w/ throughbolt, and FD hanger. Popped on a Dura Ace group from the late 80s, w/ bar end shifters, and a Selle San Marco Regal. I...
Got this for a great price from Craiglist. Had a Mavic drivetrain on it, including chamfered BB and Starfish Crank. Swapped in Shimano 105 (non biopace crankset), and Microshift R8 brifters. I found a blue Vetta Carrera saddle on eBay. The top tube cable guides were on their last legs (two...
I agree, I think the seller measured from the center of the BB to the top of the seat tube, which, you can see, extends beyond the top tube. I posted some 'BEFORE' pictures of it, before I made the changes to it. I'll pop them in the gallery eventually.
I wonder if it's really a 64. I own a 63 Cresty, and it doesn't look any taller. I've emailed the seller to verify from the SN stamped on the seat stay. I'd gladly swap my 63 for this one if it is a 64.
Anyone know what shade of white was used on the late 80's Team Crest bikes? I'd like to do some touch ups, but am worried that it will be too white, like liquid paper.
Thanks, I agree, a 63 is a rare bird, however one was on eBay a few years ago, and I passed on it. Serial number indicates it's 1988, build date Aug 11. I may put some Dia Compe butterfly shifters on this; I'm too old for downtube shifters. I'd happily trade it for 63 Lemond Alpe d'Huez.
Hi everyone. I got lucky, found a seller on Craigslist with Cannondale Crest bike, in my size (63cm). I think he bought it used in a shop, after the original owner made some eccentric modifications.
It's now got a Mavic Starfish crank, Mavic 840 RD, Mavic 862 FD, Campy Chorus Headset...
