    Greenhornet

Take some good photos of the bike and post them. Include as many decals and components as possible, as well as the serial number. What cars? I still drive a '66 Olds that I bought when it was an "old car", back in 1986. Have a '65 El Camino project, and some other 60s Chevelles and a '67...

    Barrel adjuster bracket

This is the only one I have that's not in use. May be from an older frame, has seen plenty of salt. It has enough shaft to fit the 45 mm down tube of a CAAD 3. I bought it at a swap meet but have never needed it.

Fanboy day out to Cannondale, CT.

Glad to see it's still there. Thanks for posting.

    CODA Force 40 Brake system

That's a great price. How much was the shipping? I assume only what was pictured was included.

    Alu fatigue on old frames

Sounds like you have some great riding ahead. Looks like you have a 3.0 road frame. Especially, keep an eye out for cracking near the FD mount and where the cantilevered dropouts meet the rear triangle. Most fatigue cracks start small and take quite a while to progress to the point of failure...

    CODA Force 40 Brake system

I'm aware of the Pederson SE brakes but have never owned any. The 1992 catalog shows them on the XC Pro and Comp page. They were simply labeled XC SE and were meant to be used with either group. There was also a regular canti XC brake. No distinction is made for front/rear use. I'd always...

    Cannondale CAAD4 enquiry

I think $1000 US is in the range for most older tandems. This recent ebay listing was a bargain in my opinion...

    Cannondale CAAD4 enquiry

Hard to say about the brakes. The choice may have been dictated by the lack of a disc mount on the fork. It's usually cheaper to buy a full set rather than a different type for each end of the bike. I'm guessing the bike wasn't very old when you bought it. I think the tandem frames still had...

Pretty sure that's a 20" 1987 SM400. They originally came with Sugino VP crank, SunTour Alpha 3000 drivetrain, and DiaCompe 960 brakes.

1995 Cannondale m500 headset size and steerer tube length

My 20" 1995 M900 came with a 220 mm steerer tube and 15mm of spacers. You might get by with a steerer as short as 200 mm depending on headset and stem.

    Alu fatigue on old frames

I've actually seen more cracked steel and titanium frames than aluminum ones. My dealer told me that the 80s Crit Cannondales would crack in the seat tube near the front derailleur mount but I've put 8,000 miles on one I bought used and it's still free of cracks. The cantilever dropouts of the...

    Cannondale CAAD4 enquiry

Perhaps the seller of the road bike purchased it in 2006 and assumed it was a current model. CAAD4 frames had the hourglass shaped seat stays and a conventional headset with external cups. Early CAAD4s had threaded forks but later ones had threadless. The tandem frames were simply called Road...

    Cannondale CAAD4 enquiry

1999 was the first year for CAAD4. CAAD5 was introduced in 2001 for the top three models only, the rest (R1000 and below) were CAAD4. The R500 was still CAAD4 in 2004. That was the last CAAD4 standard road frame. I have a 1999 R4000 in Team Blue.

    CODA Force 40 Brake system

I think SunTour had a similar setup, can't remember what it was called. I think they worked well but were a bit touchy to get set up correctly. Some of the 1995 Cannondales still used the concept but the Force 40 name was dropped. Not sure if they were used after that, 1995 was about when V...

    First gen. Headshok questions

I think a lot of the appeal of Cannondale MTBs is that they were different, didn't use off-the-shelf forks from other companies (except at the low end). I'd encourage you to find a Headshok fork or perhaps upgrade to a Lefty. I haven't dealt with Craig (see above) but in your situation I would...

1995 Cannondale m500 headset size and steerer tube length

    I believe it's 1 1/8". I have a 1995 M900 here with the same 2.8 frame. I can pull the stem and measure if needed but really think it's 1 1/8".

    Jekyll Model and year help

Decal style looks to be 2002. That was the first year for the bar code stickers that indicate year. If you don't have a bar code decal it may have been removed. I suspect that this is another Euro-spec model that doesn't appear in any of our catalog scans.

    The Rarest Cannodale MTB 1990s/2000s

Examples I have seen I would place in 1993: last year for the dual suspension Delta V frame and first year for XTR.

    First gen. Headshok questions

That looks like a '95 KV900. I have the similar spec but level TT M900 in purple. I bought it new, it's all original except for tires, skewers, and rear rack. I need to get a photo some time. Here's my '92 Delta V900. Originally 7 speed LX, I built it with mixed SunTour 8 speed parts. Let...

    First gen. Headshok questions

The '96 catalog states that all current and previous generation Headshok frames can be updated to the Fatty fork, which featured an air sprung oil damped cartridge. I don't know for certain but I'd guess by then they were serviceable. If you ride a size small the F series bikes of that era...
