My other Cannondale, Super-V, is converted it to an E-Bike. But I resurrected this older one recently to save me from parking. I forgot how light it is too. Notice the stickers.
I recently finished up my first bike build using a 1988 SM500 that I picked up from an estate sale. Judging by the contents of the handlebar bag on it I don't think it was ridden for quite some time. The color and the big tubes really grabbed me, and I thought it looked like it had potential and would make for a fun project.
I went back and forth for a while with how far I wanted to change things. Ultimately, I decided to upgrade and modernize most things while also keeping it pretty true...
Been looking for an M800 for a long time. Finally located this very original 94 model.

This is the bike that started it all for me. Bought this bike new at Howard’s Bike Shop and raced and rode it for years. Shown here still dirty from a recent ride.
Ahh the 80s mountain bikes, long chainstays and retina blasting paint jobs. This 87 SM400 has one of the tallest stems I have seen.

It was build up as i would have in the 90s - if money would not be an issue for a teen. Full XTR and iconic (at least here in Europe) Spengle wheels - prouldly made in Austria.
