Hi All im new to the forum, and I just acquired a (maybe) 2005 Jekyll. I was hoping someone could help me out identifying it. I looked at the bottom bracket and their were stamping s. they were 8708810A00002 3DMJLN MD their may have been a sticker but it well gone now. the previous owner had a story about the bike, i didnt buy it because of the story but i was hoping for as much info on it as i could get. it looks kinda like a hodgepodge of parts, for example the rear swing arm has a place for traditional brakes but it has hays hydraulics. any help would be greatly appreciated
thanks again and HI

Welcome. I think that the bar code sticker is the only way to determine the year of frames built after 2001. We might be able to figure it out by the paint. Looking at the catalogs it appears that 2004 was the last year for a Jekyll with V brakes. I can't tell if the V brake swingarm had a caliper mount as well but it looks like it may have. The swingarms on the 2003-2005 models with disc brakes don't appear to have V brake bosses but it may have been possible to convert a V brake model to disc. It looks like the only model to come with Hayes brakes in 2003 was the 700, which was a European only model. It's not unusual to find bikes that came from the factory with parts outside catalog spec though. In 2004 the 800 came with Hayes brakes. It had a Lefty fork and was painted either black/white or SoBe team (fire truck yellow). Another thing to look at is the shock, as different models used different shocks. I don't know how well the shocks are labeled but it could be a clue. In 2003 the Jekyll 800-3000 models all had a Fox Float L with remote lockout, the 500 and 600 had a Float L (no remote), and the 400 had a Fox Vanilla. In 2004 the upper end bikes had Manitou shocks.
