Hello,
This is my first post here. Long time cannonade lover and rider. My first real road bike was a secondhand (maybe thirdhand) red cannonade criterium I raced back in college. I know own a mystery caad3 mountain bike I have absolutely loved since 2007. I never took much time to figure out what model it really was. Hoping for some help here. I bought it as just a frame. so none of the original parts were with it. No decals besides cannonade and cad3 to indicate what it was. Here are some pics when I first partially built it up and some serial number pics. Trying to decode the numbers but I think the date code is JD which would mean April 1998?

It has had many build changes :) Old cargo hauler mode:

Thanks for any help!

Does it have the large diameter head tube for a Headshok fork? The CAAD3 models in 1998-1999 were all F series frames with Headshoks. There were no rigid CAAD3s. Could be an Iris Blue F2000 frame.

It takes a 1-1/8" threadless headset. Definitely not an enlarged headstock system. Maybe I have the date code wrong? Maybe its a 97?

There were a couple of rigid '97 CAAD3 models, the M900 and M1000. I'd guess what you have was sold as a frameset or is a replacement frame for one of those. We see quite a few frames lacking model numbers that have different paint from what would be "right" for the year and frame type. We have to assume that those frames were either sold as framesets or were made for warranty claims to replace more than one model.

Thank you! I was beginning to wonder about such a scenario. I appreciate the help. Cheers!
