Unsure On This One....

I'm very wary of this one. In my area, but there are some egregious things about the post that I kind of take as red flags:

1) "Like New" condition, when it's clearly stated that the rear derailleur "is broken, but will be fixed by the day after this posts." I can't call a bike with what looks like a broken derailleur hanger (and rather askew brifters) "like new."

2) The bike frame is not carbon fiber. Even in the lousy pictures posted, the welds at the head tube are clearly visible. I mean, aluminum isn't awful, but it's not carbon fiber. The fork is, I am certain.

3) No mention of the model name/number.

4) $400 is a lot for a broken "10 year old" bike, though it probably is a fraction of the original price of the bike.

I will probably reach out to the owner, if for nothing else than to ask what size it is and what the serial number is.

I saw that same ad a little while ago. I keep an eye out on the nearby (Wichita Falls) CL just to see if any worthy bikes pop up. Still looking for a decently priced CAADX, or some other brand with decent parts I can pull to do a gravel bike conversion with.

I did a bit of investigation. That does look like 2014-ish CAADX cyclocross bike. Several models in 2014-2016 were gloss black with white, and the wheels look to be Maddux CX DISC, but I can't tell if they're CX 2.0 (which would have been on the top-of-the-line CAADX cross bikes) or some other number. The disc-brake model with 105 components originally came with CX 2.1 DISC wheelset, and that's definitely not what's in the Craigslist pictures.

I'm going to call the seller, I think.

I'd have to dig through the 14-16 catalogs to be sure myself. It's frustrating trying to determine what's what with such low resolution and unclear pictures. If it were cheaper and had better than Sora level components it might catch my fancy more. I've found a good deal on a 1 x 11 speed GRX mini groupset to accomplish what I want using my F600 , it's all the extra parts, brake adapters, drop bar, staying 26" or go 650B ,etc... that keep my from jumping into it right now. Maybe after I finish the Super V I will look more in earnest.

Gives me a weird vibe.
Looking at how the bike is handled to take a few pictures, yes the low res,
What is this seller trying to hide?

Have you tried an image search to see if these images have been used for other Craigslist, Ebay etc posts?

I have not tried an image search. The seller not listing the exact year and model seems odd to me, and the way the bike is treated for the pictures does not indicate someone who really cares for their bike.

CL seller mentioned a rear axle in need of replacement as well. This would be a hard pass for me.
It certainly doesn't help. Of course, replacing a wheel isn't such a big deal, but with the derailleur or the hanger broken, it does bring up the question of what happened to the bike to cause that damage and what other damage might have happened as a result.

How about this one?

$220 for a CAAD 3 bike with a Fatty fork and roller-cam brakes; probably intended as a cyclocross bike...

Seems that fate or whatever has my back. I got a call out of the blue from my son-in-law and his brother happens to have 2017 Slate with the obligatory (mandatory for me) Lefty that he's looking to sell. He wasn't sure on the size but his brother is 5'11" and so am I. Best part is, He told me he would pick it up for Fathers Day for me, I'll just have to go pick it up from them in Virginia when I come visit.
Winner winner chicken dinner if you ask me.

Dang! You got all the luck this time!

BTW, what is it about the Lefty that makes is mandatory for you?

Looks mostly. For me it's just not a Cannondale MTB, or in this case, a "gravel" bike without one. To me they add to the unique branding that is Cannondale. On this bike a Fox 32 Step cast would be a better performing and MUCH easier fork to maintain, but wouldn't look right.
