Part cleaning recommendations

I used to use gunk, a wire brush and a garden hose.
I’m wondering if simple green vs an ultrasonic cleaner might be better options.
If folks have been using the latter, any recs on a reasonable ultrasonic cleaner out there?

Thanks!

I am a bit wary of Simple Green. It can be too aggressive and attack the anodizing on aluminum parts.

So, dishwashing liquid?
I use a mixture of warm water and liquid Ivory soap personally and the tried and true hand washing/cleaning method. I've been contemplating an ultrasonic cleaner for years and still haven't jumped on buying one.

For the crusty stuff I soak in the Ultrasonic cleaner and Dawn/water, brush with old toothbrush or whatever brush works, additional time in the UC, and rinse as needed.
