Long story short - I found this SM500 on FB in a Cannondale group. A soon to be bike friend in NE Ohio picked up the frame/fork in a bike shop 15 miles from my house and built it up for his personal ride. I mentioned if he ever decided to sell it to please let me know. Several months later he decided it was just too small for him and we made arrangements to meet up. This was my first vintage Cannondale frame and definitely was an opportunity to learn about vintage Cannondale magic. I built it as my around town runner. To the purist: Sorry, not sorry.
The current parts list which differs from the pic includes:
- used Shimano Paralax wheelset with Conti DoubleFighter 1.9" tires
- New Albion 165mm 3x crank (now has a black one on it)
- Shimano PD-EF202 Pedals
- SDG saddle (ebay score)
- Blue Cannondale grips
- modern Alivio 3x9 drivetrain and brakes with 11-32 cassette and Shimano chain
- Velo Orange seat post, stem, headset, and Hot Bars
- Shimano cables
- Blackburn rack
