A new one must have been very expensive. SunTour did make both 6 and 7 speed indexed bar end shifters. Perhaps when you have more time on the bike your hand will fall to the right spot without looking down.

Considered not cool but I've purchased a number of rear wheels with spoke damage because some cool guy who didn't know how to shift/and/or/set limit screws on rear derailleur ran the chain into the spokes.

Nice Job. Agree that you could do some sanding and/or filling with spot putty and smooth out the chips. Nothing to prevent you from doing that down the road. 80s frame but I didn't look up the year. Paint number could be helpful for others with the same year frame, please post it.

1995. Bike doesn't appear to need a whole lot. Girvin flex stem is a bit unusual on a road bike.

I think that model was only made for the 1991 model year so it's unlikely that a full original decal set exists. You can probably find some of the decals that are close on ebay, such as the down tube, head tube, and made in USA decals. You might contact a professional painter such as Joe...

The motorcycles and ATVs are generally credited with bankrupting the company I think. I've never seen one for sale but parts turn up on eBay.

I would probably go through the parts on hand and see what fit the vintage of the frame. In my case that would probably result in mid to upper range SunTour circa 1990.

I have seen a couple of Crest bikes before but didn't remember the graphics. Guessing the 64 cm measurement is to top of seat tube. I didn't know about the steel frames. Don't recall anyone who rode for the team.
