    Headshok, elastomer completely perished

Ow sorry, I thought I had mentioned the price for the elastomer. A 1 meter bar is sold for around $10,- ex shipping. Next week I will order one of those elastomers to see if it is the right size and material. I will let you know about my findings :)

    Headshok, elastomer completely perished

Thanks for asking I found a company that sells 25 mm round, 1000 mm long elastomer bars. No idea if the material have the right specs. But it is not that expensive so I am willing to buy it to see if it is suitable as a replacement part. If it works for me it will also work for other Cdale...

    Headshok, elastomer completely perished

Took out the damper from my Killer V 800 (98 model). I expected to find an elastomer that was just so much compressed that it had no life in it anymore. What I found was a tube full of small bits of perished elastomer. I cannot get this stuff out without contaminating the needle bearings so I...

Noticed something interesting about Cannondale Road/race frames over the last 20+ years

It was an CAAD Optimo, did not have the name of CAAD7 but after some research I am sure it was a CAAD7. Yes, the play shows when cycling at a low cadence. I could just see it swinging from left to right when powering the pedals. But for me the thing that did it was the fact I found the bike was...

Noticed something interesting about Cannondale Road/race frames over the last 20+ years

It is because they never made big changes to the geometry that I stayed with the brand. This geometry, stack and reach, fits me. I feel a huge change when it comes to frame material and geometry. In the past I had a Reynolgs 501 which felt really elastic, when I put power on de the pedals you...

What happened to my damper cartridge?

The 700C bike has a travel of 25mm because of the design of the headshok, the cartridge has a bigger travel but the fork just not allow more than 25 mm.

    What is this damper cartridge?

That looks like a sort of DD2 cartridge that has a lock up option. It should have some oil in it, but not fully filled I think. It is for damping only, the 'spring' action is done by the elastomer Edit Found this by coincidence. Youtube video

Need advice, cable stop drilled out, how to fix this?

Ok, crisis averted. I found a ferule that exactly fits the cable stopper. It is big enough for another cable including an extra smaller cable stopper. So it is a nice tight fit. What also helped is that I figured out by looking at a lot of images from SV's, mainly on this website, that the...

Need advice, cable stop drilled out, how to fix this?

Ow, I am very much interested in the Frank Zappa ferrules. Do you remember were you bought them? I found 2 cable end caps sized 6,3 mm-ish that seem to fit but I have to check if that works. Close inspection learned that the gable guides are not drilled out completely so maybe I can fix them...

Need advice, cable stop drilled out, how to fix this?

Currently I am working on the restoration of a Super V 1000 polish. I would like to bring it back to original state as best as possible. As with a lot of bikes from this era, after market Magura hydraulic brakes were installed. To guide the brake lines the cable stops were drilled out to make...

Question, bolt type for rear swing arm 1992 Delta V

Quick update I found a company in the Netherlands that sells single stainless UNC bolts. I have send them a picture of my original bolt and the M10 bolt to see if they can confirm it is a 3/8-16 x 1 1/4 stainless bolt. If they confim this I will order the bolts and let you know if it is a 3/8-16...

Question, bolt type for rear swing arm 1992 Delta V

I have 2 frames here comparable with a 1992 Delta V1000 model. From one of the bikes the bolts to attach the spring arm are missing. I ordered M10 bolts but after trying to mount them I discovered I ordered the wrong parts. Does any one of you have an idea what type of bolts are used. I...

    Cannondale History

No sorry It was made around the same time as the pong bike (it also has Magic Crank) and appeared in some magazines after factory visits were they spotted the bike. If you search for Cannondale r4000 protoype you may find more info. Edit, that's funny, I used to live in Soest (the Netherlands)

    Cannondale History

In 2021 a book came out named "The Cannondale Archives" It is a very limited edition about the history from '71 to '21 and not available for the public. I have seen one being offered on ebay for like $900 and then some. In the Netherlands they have one for viewing at the office of the The...
