Please help with the bike I just purchased.

I love the touring frames. You can fit narrow tires for pavement or wide knobbies for gravel. I have several. Favorite is probably a 1985 ST500 with Suntour 7 speed build, Mavic rims and 28 mm Tufo diamond tread tubulars. Upright stem was an experiment, not so sure about that. .

    Downtube shifting

Right shifter and rear derailleur must both be Alpha 3000 to index correctly. Is the noise coming from the front or the rear? If the rear is shifting OK but you are getting noise from the front derailleur in certain gears you may have to trim the front a bit. It's also possible that the limit...

Please help with the bike I just purchased.

Pic of whole bike would be helpful. Does seem likely to be a 1987 SR400 but the catalog says mint green and slate gray were the color options. Looks to be black in your pics. More pics, list the components. Where in IL?

Please help me ID this Bike late 80s??

The 3.0 series frames were made for several years and are basically the same. Paint/decal colors changed each year, as did component spec.

    Hello

If it was all original it would have a Pepperoni fork. Recent Killer V900 sales on eBay have been in the $200-400 range.

How much is a F500 worth original everything?

Hard to say without much better pictures. Tires don't appear to be original. Not that that's a big concern, just makes me wonder what else has been changed.

    1991 SE1000

I think that drawing attention to the suspension may have been the idea behind the two tone paint. Anyone walking into a shop would first notice the paint, then check out the suspension. I never read the description on the Omega colors before, always thought it was black. I think yellow/red...

Looks like it will ship for $14. I'll have to confirm that at the P.O. Would $20 total be fair?

    1991 SE1000

I always thought my '93 Beast looks pretty nice in red, but most of the E.S.T. bikes were two colors.

Please help me ID this Bike late 80s??

Really tough to say for sure without better pictures and more information. My guess is a 1989 SR400 (with a terribly bent fork).

    1991 SE1000

Cool project. That looks like a '91, so first year for full suspension. I'd prefer almost any color over silver. The black/purple '92 paint would look pretty good.

    Greenhornet

Take some good photos of the bike and post them. Include as many decals and components as possible, as well as the serial number. What cars? I still drive a '66 Olds that I bought when it was an "old car", back in 1986. Have a '65 El Camino project, and some other 60s Chevelles and a '67...

    Barrel adjuster bracket

This is the only one I have that's not in use. May be from an older frame, has seen plenty of salt. It has enough shaft to fit the 45 mm down tube of a CAAD 3. I bought it at a swap meet but have never needed it.

Fanboy day out to Cannondale, CT.

Glad to see it's still there. Thanks for posting.

That's a great price. How much was the shipping? I assume only what was pictured was included.

    Alu fatigue on old frames

Sounds like you have some great riding ahead. Looks like you have a 3.0 road frame. Especially, keep an eye out for cracking near the FD mount and where the cantilevered dropouts meet the rear triangle. Most fatigue cracks start small and take quite a while to progress to the point of failure...

    CODA Force 40 Brake system

I'm aware of the Pederson SE brakes but have never owned any. The 1992 catalog shows them on the XC Pro and Comp page. They were simply labeled XC SE and were meant to be used with either group. There was also a regular canti XC brake. No distinction is made for front/rear use. I'd always...
