    Looks like an 89 SR

Uh oh I’m afraid to check. It’s a 5 1/2 hour drive. I contemplated making another run…I messaged the seller, have not heard back.

Some discussion about favorite CAAD road frames from another forum

I ended up receiving several nice photos. It’s sized correctly for my wife. But sadly she’s not as passionate about bikes as I am. She said “It doesn’t wow her.” More bikes for me then. ;) I invited the seller to join us on this site…

    R400

I picked up a set of calipers too. I think I’ll leave the crank alone though. I read the chart on Sheldon Brown’s site. Determining what is compatible is beyond my knowledge level. I only came up with one.

Ahh yes I missed that color. I shall message him again. Wish I had a better way to get a bike from there. I need to stop looking. But I can’t help myself. Especially when this bike is only $100.

Denfeld. A German bike shop. It's a Euro import! Very cool!

Like this one @black lightning 1987 ? It's a 97/98 I think. But the Saeco letters are white. And the fork is painted. Looks like a riders name near the seat post. It's a 54cm.

I’m sure there will be folks that will want 20 year old carbon bike in the future. It will be for nostalgia of days gone by. Or it’s a bike they couldn’t afford when they were new or getting the same bike they sold long ago. As far as durability in the future. If the bikes were cared for...

Where did you ride your Cannondale today?

Sycamore=huge leaves for fall clean up. Plus the “molting” of tree bark every other year-ish. The plan is to get some riding in once the kiddos are off to school in the mornings this week. Before I head to work. As long as fall house stuff doesn’t get in the way…

    Looks like an 89 SR

Looking at the 89 catalog, what I read, all 3.0 SR bikes have the aluminum fork. It appears to me in the pics this bike has a steel fork. They run short that day at the factory? Or is it a catalog statement that may or may not be factual?

    R400

I haven’t yet gotten the bike back on the repair stand. But what little I‘ve read it is likely what you said @black lightning 1987 . The B screw. It may be moot point though…I..ahh…had a very good condition 105 RD show up in the mailbox the other day. I had a goofy thought about making...

I’m definitely no expert, still trying to figure out the fork. I messaged the seller. But not much info was known or given.

A for sale ad has me trying to play detective. Sort of. The bike looks to be a 1989 SR 3.0 framed bike. But doesn’t have an aluminum fork. Swapped? Possibly, since brakes and rear derailleur seem to be not the originals. It has a Dura ace crank like a SR2000. But Campagnolo FD like a 900. Pics:

    R400

Brand new old pedals arrived in the mailbox today. Swapped out the clipless. Took the R400 for a quick 2 mile ”sprint”. Rear derailleur needs some adjustment. Running the pedals backward, the top jockey wheel is contacting cogs.

    CAAD5 frame great paint scheme

Neat additional info! I did not know the BB stampings included the frame size in cm, for that vintage. Good to know. Now correct me if I'm wrong, but I remember reading odd number frame sizes were sold as framesets.

    CAAD5 frame great paint scheme

Ahhh…nevermind. I read the ad a little more carefully. The seller is advertising it as an XL 61cm frame. He has all the frame dimensions listed. His 61 cm is the top tube length! The seat tube is listed at 66.5cm. No such thing of course. In reality it’s a 66 cm bike frame. I’m not tall enough...

    CAAD5 frame great paint scheme

I like it a lot. I slept on it and still think it is too high of a premium to pay. It would take some time to find, but I could find a complete CAAD5 of that vintage for less or at the very least a very nice complete one at that price. What I am still thinking about it is that it is in a very...

Some discussion about favorite CAAD road frames from another forum

My favorites are CAAD3 and CAAD4. For the simple reason that they are what I own currently. They are the first Cannondale road bikes I have ever owned. I bought them during the same crazy road trip I took with my family. So there will always be a sentimental reason. As I become more familiar...

    CAAD5 frame great paint scheme

$742 shipped. Just for the frameset. As much as I like it, that is a lot of money for a paint scheme. If it was $150 lower I might. That is a lot of parts to find to make it complete.

    CAAD5 frame great paint scheme

Learned that this frame is a 9/11 commemorative edition. Production number that I found says there were 1100 made.

Where did you ride your Cannondale today?

Short 2 mile sprint through the neighborhood. The Sycamore tree in my front yard is my start/finish line for all things physical.
