    Part cleaning recommendations

I am a bit wary of Simple Green. It can be too aggressive and attack the anodizing on aluminum parts.

    1994-ish Super V....?

EH? That would be something like August of 1993, if I'm interpreting it correctly. 19" frame, too. There was one Super V model in 1993, but three in 1994 (3000/2000/1000). If the 1994 catalog is correct, the 3000 and 2000 both were XT/XTR, but the difference was the brakes - the 2000 has...

    Health, Heartrate, and Disappointment....

Back to cycling-related stuff. 62 minutes on the indoor trainer tonight. I decided it was going to be a cadence session, so dropped down into the 39x17 gear and tried to maintain a hugher-than-usual cadence. Pushed the heartrate up to a max of 116, and averaged 107 for the whole hour. As soon...

    R800 to Cafe Racer!

Axalta calls it "Chromalusion", but there are several companies that sell similar paint that changes color based on viewing angle. The first version, created by Optical Coating Laboratory, Inc. in 1979, was called ChromaFlair. There's a pretty good Wikipedia article about it...

    Health, Heartrate, and Disappointment....

Oh, they're all tools. Like any tool, each does things better than other tools. Been a programmer for more than half my life now. Started out with FORTRAN on minicomputers, then on PCs, then C and C++, then SAP, then Business Basic and Python, with a bit of shell scripting and SQL tossed in. No...

    Health, Heartrate, and Disappointment....

Well, truth be told, I could probably get away with a Raspberry Pi 5 as an email and websurfing computer, though there are a few things I prefer doing on my Mac. The PC I have is mostly for casual gaming, running the BOINC client for the Einstein@Home distributed-computing project, and stuff...

    Health, Heartrate, and Disappointment....

Well, as Roseanne Rosannadana from SNL often said, "It's always something!" The trainer idea is going on the back burner for more urgent needs. My email & websurfing Mac Mini has up and decided that it does not want to connect to the internet. I'm using an old PC at the moment, but I don't like...

    A113 cable stays

At least the bike's not for sale. If it were, you'd have to add the obligatory "cat NOT included" warning. ;-)

What is a Cannondale Jekyll 3?

The problem is, the shocks on that particular vintage of Cannondales were pull shocks, not the usual push, and very few other manufacturers made that decision. Thus, the selection isn't great, and replacing it with something else would require a complete re-engineering of the suspension linkages.

What is a Cannondale Jekyll 3?

Decent full-suspension mountain bike, if you can find the rear shock and a fork for it. Probably used a Headshok; I don't know if they offered it with the Lefty.

    R800 to Cafe Racer!

Gorgeous! You're a better man than I, Gunga Din. I wouldn't have near enough patience to do all that polishing.

    Newbie Q - circa 1995 Super V 2000 dead headshok

One place I know of is Mendon Cyclesmith. https://www.mendoncyclesmith.com/ Mendon services Headshoks, Leftys, etc. Disclaimer: I do not have any bikes with a Headshok or Lefty, so I have no experience with Mendon. Several other folks here do, so I'm sure they'll weigh in.

    Super V 700 Active 80

https://tulsa.craigslist.org/bik/d/muskogee-cannondale-super-700-active-80/7860117023.html Saw this on Craigslist here in Tulsa. I was interested, so I texted the guy who posted the ad. He "doesn't know much about bikes", so I wonder just how he obtained it. He did text me a picture of the...

    Health, Heartrate, and Disappointment....

Back on the bike (on the trainer, still) after two weeks off fighting a cold. Back to 45 minute sessions four times a week, trying to get the heartrate up. Monday it was 112bpm average with a peak of 120; today's average was 111bpm with a peak of 119.

    Fresh Find: Gold

Now, Cannondale did build BMX frames in the mid-1990s, but not like that....

    R600?

From the codes on the bottom bracket shell and the lack of space between top tube and down tube at the head tube junction, I'm guessing it's a 52cm frame, which means it isn't a compact R700. Whether it's too small for you depends on your inseam and what shoes you'll be wearing. I am about 5'...

Bottom Bracket BB 1988 SM 600

You'll have to measure the axle itself. 68mm is the width of the bottom bracket shell. The axle itself will probably be 100mm or more - I've seen them up to 113mm. It all depends on the bottom bracket, double/triple chainrings, chainline, etc.

Dang! You got all the luck this time! BTW, what is it about the Lefty that makes is mandatory for you?
