Changing rim models could result in having to buy new spokes, as the diameter of the seating surface of the nipples can vary considerable for rims that fit the same size tire. Cannondale wouldn't have made the rims but I don't know what company would have at that time.

Glad to hear that the wheels could be trued up. Shouldn't be hard to find a stem that works. $300 sounds reasonable for the time trial bike if it's in good shape.

You could race on the CXPs but most folks you race against will have higher end wheels. Train on the heavy wheels, race on the light ones. I've had several pairs of Fulcrums but never any of the high end ones. I've not had a problem with them. Be sure to get a Shimano freehub body as some...

We will never know as there's no way to get a pro tour rider on a CAAD9.

They were popular but there were maintenance issues with them. I think that the spokes were proprietary. I'm not sure they are generally available now if you break a spoke. Might be fine if you land a good pair and you don't have any problems. What are the wheels that you're thinking about...

It's hard for me to think of a CAAD9 as vintage because I think it's still a frame that any race in the world could be won on.

Roller cam brakes were last used in 1989 I think. 1990 had a U brake in the rear and cantis in front. Cantis were then used until V brakes came about. 1996 BOTE had V brakes.

My earlier take on the BOTE decal was mistaken. I looked at my 1991 SM800 and it has the decal on the left chainstay. It has a 1" head tube.

In general Cannondale MTB frames were measured in inches from BB center to top of seat tube. 18" was called a large in 1999. Road frames were measured in cm from center to 1" down from the top of the seat tube.
