    Greetings from Iowa

By "on site" do you mean Tom T built frames at the shop?

    Greetings from Iowa

I was in Columbus in the mid 80s, after a job in NJ and school in Champaign. Don't recall WoB in Davenport but I think there is still a store in IA City. I knew Steve and Errol well and Jeff a bit, but don't remember Fry.

    1988 Black Lightning Resto

What's the bolt circle of the crank? I just assumed that it was 130 mm. Older Superbe would have been 144 I guess. I've had a new chain skip on Campagnolo 8 speed cogs that looked fine too. If it only skips on the small cog, you should be able to find a replacement. Just be sure to ID the...

Caad3 Saeco with Serotta carbon forks

Nice bike. Recent complete CAAD3 sales in the USA have been in the $300-500 range, which seems cheap to me. I'd advise taking it apart to get the maximum return. The Serotta fork should sell for $100 or more. I'd guess the 105 group should bring $300. Not sure about the wheels but $100...

    Greetings from Iowa

Thanks for the information about the early days. What shop did you work for? I bought two new Cannondales from On Two Wheels, the first in 1990. I wasn't in the area in the mid 80s but am wondering what shop carried 32 brands.

    1988 Black Lightning Resto

The 1989 catalog that we have only has pictures of a couple of models. You have to look at the specification pages at the end of the catalog to help ID 1989 bikes. Were the rings that you have made by SR? SunTour made some black rings - I have Superbe Pro on my Black Lightning. Guessing...

    Cad2 F500

That's a 1999 F500. Color is Mean Green Gloss. Fork is P-Bone M. Guessing your needle bearings are the sticking point. I have a Headshok frame that came to me with a stuck fork. I was able to free it up with penetrating oil and persistence.

    1988 Black Lightning Resto

Nice work, the bike looks great. I'm pretty sure it's a 1989 SR500, which came with Edge. The 1988 BL was the Sprint equipped SR700. The oval chainrings are original.

    Super…what?

Could well have been built from a frameset, so perhaps why it's lacking the model number decal. The US spec '98 SV900 came with V brakes. Only disc SV that year was the 2000 Freeride.

CAAD 3... but with weird frame. Found! XR800, 2000 release

I weighed another XR800 built with Campagnolo 10 last night. It weighs 22 lbs with a pair of heavy low end SPD pedals. Plenty light enough for gravel road riding. Enjoy it.

    Super…what?

Looks to be a 1998 SV900 to me. Color is Split Pea with Speed Yellow swingarm. Would have had a Headshok Fatty D fork originally. Spec was: XT rear derailleur, STX front derailleur, Sachs shifters, Coda crank, LX hubs, Mavic 221 rims, Avid brakes. Be aware that it wasn't unusual for...

CAAD 3... but with weird frame. Found! XR800, 2000 release

I think the price is reasonable. Guessing it was $1200 or so new. I don't know the weight off hand but I would guess around 21 lbs. It's nice on gravel. I'd like a taller head tube but other than that it's fine. Won't fit super wide tires but most 32-35 mm tires should fit. Can weigh...

Help putting value to my dads old Cannondale Caad 7 Saeco

I think that's a 2003 Saeco Team Replica. It was the top of the line road bike that year. Last one sold on ebay went for $600 but had Campagnolo Centaur instead of the original Record. People are asking $900 - 1400 for Dura-Ace equipped CAAD7 bikes but I don't know if they are selling at...

    Delta V2000 shock adjuster

Could you trace the nut onto cardboard? Measure the OD of the threaded part of the shock, draw that circle diameter on the cardboard with a compass, cut out the circle and the end of the cardboard so you can fit it over the shock, then trace the outside of the nut onto the cardboard. Pretty...

Need your help! What is this bike?? ‍♂️

Looks like a 2004 1FG, missing some decals. Finish and crank look right for that bike. Check with Craig at MendonCycleSmith for Headshok service.

Adapting dura ace downtube shifter to Cannondale frame

Did you remove the stock shifter bosses? With the stock boss setup you will just need the Shimano spacers with a flat back rather than the radiused ones that you have. Not sure, but I may have a pair.

which button bracket for a KILLER V900

I think they were all 68 mm shells. Easy to measure and be sure. Spindle length and type will depend on what crank you use.

    Greetings from the other Maine.....

That's a nice looking Silk Road. I have a frame that's virtually identical but mine seems to have gotten the downtube decals from a SR900. If you have questions about the fork, post them in Headshox and Lefty section. MendonCycleSmith is the guy to talk to about fork issues

    Hi from Brighton, UK.

I think that's the right choice. 18.5 is still pretty light, 7400 works great and is probably going to last longer than most modern groups. The wheels give it a modern look, so you have a nice compromise of vintage and modern.
