1987 SR600 Shifter

I got this 1987 SR600 from a guy on CL for FREE. The shifter is broken and I can't figure out what shifter model is correct for this model. I've searched on EBAY and other classified but can't find a VISUAL match.
The Right shifter looks to be correct because its mount plate aligns with the small hole on the tube.
The left shifter is a slightly different color and doesn't have a curved plate to mount to tube. It is labeled SL-6208
I've labeled the pix of the shifter LEFT and RIGHT. Can anyone please advise me as to what shifter model I will need to repair this.

One more thought......
I think the left shifter is just missing the curved mounting piece

Those curved boss covers, I think they're called, are available on eBay. Just search for the model number, SL-6208.

Those are one of four variants of the Shimano 600EX six-speed SIS indexed downtube shifters. The finning/ribbing on the left lever looks like the ones I saw on eBay, though there may have been smooth versions too.

Jon, that Braze-on Boss cover is not the right part.
I've taken 2 Close Up Pix of Right shifter curved piece and you can see the difference. The protrusion fits into a hole on my frame. Also, there is a threaded Rod that passes thru the frame and connects the Right and Left Shifters. Also, you will see my curved piece is solid.

The South Salem Cycleworks link I posted says something about a set of "Shimano 600 SL-6208 6-speed braze-on downtube shifters with Keyhole braze-on adaptors." I don't know what a "keyhole adapter" is, and the photographer didn't bother to take a picture of said adapter.

There's a Shimano catalog from 1987 on the website here; it's a bit hard to read but it may have some information. The SL-6208 was the SIS indexed downtube shifters, the SL-6207 were friction only, it appears.

Or this, if you could clean it up, might work. It does have the solid concave adapter with the little stud for the small hole; whether it's the right position to fit I can't tell. At least it's cheaper than the above alternatives.

I'm glad you found what you need. It's too bad they're so expensive, but they're pretty uncommon now, I'd assume. South Salem is pretty good with older, obscure parts.

That is a lovely bike! The purple with what looks like a reddish hyper-highlight is very striking. My R600 is in mid-90s Timex-Cannondale team colors - Ultra Violet to Black fade with Yellow.
