Item wanted.

In a freak accident during a group ride, I broke the seatpost on my 2012 Cannondale Synapse (carbon). The part has been discontinued for several years and nobody seems to have one. I have contacted Cannondale, Cannodalespares.com, Cannondaleexperts.com, Cannondaleparts.de and have looked on Etsy, etc, etc, etc. Per Cannondale, the original part number is KP 102 and is only found on the 2009-2012 carbon models. I have read that a combination of KP115 and 114 may provide a suitable alternative, but cannot find them either.

Does anybody have one gathering dust or perhaps and old bike sitting in the garage that would be willing to part it out? I am pretty desperate. The bike is super clean and I hate to scrap it over a seat post, but I am getting nowhere in my search.

Thanks for any help you can give. As I said, I am getting desperate.

I just bought a 2011 Synapse to get the seat post so I no longer need one. (As a bonus, I also got the Shimano Tiagra derailleurs to replace the SRAM derailleurs that caused the accident. I hate that SRAM front derailleur, which does not shift reliably and which often drops the chain when trying.) But, to answer your question, it is an aerodynamic tear drop shape, so there is no real diameter to measure. I sure do appreciate your response, though - Thanks!

I had no idea that it wasn't a round post. The only similar vintage Cannondale I own is a 2011 CAADX and it has a round post. Looking at the catalog it appears that the aluminum Synapses had round posts.

Right, this is carbon. You would not believe how hard it has been to find one. But now I have a lot of spare parts. Thanks again.

Thanks for the response, but I have tried several. Nobody was willing to try. They will repair frames, but (I am guessing) too many multi-directional stresses on a seat post.

Problem solved though - I bought a 2011 Synapse with the same post. I am pirating parts and saving the frame. As I posted above - "As a bonus, I also got the Shimano Tiagra derailleurs to replace the SRAM derailleurs that caused the accident. I hate that SRAM front derailleur, which does not shift reliably and which often drops the chain when trying."

I will check the trash. I threw the biggest part away and sent the seat attachment piece to the guy rebuilding my bike. I will let you know.

Unfreaking believable. That is so funny. I've been looking for a month and finally gave up and bought a bike. If I can use the Tiagra components, I will be about even. (Well, not really since they are used and I could have bought new for about the same.) If not, I am about $600 in the red.
