wish to replace deraileur on 2006 bad boy can't find replacement for sram X 7 8 speed what can i use

are your shifters sram 8spd?

8spd is getting hard to find. you will have to look on ebay.

are you looking for time period correct? if not, you can switch over to 9spd..

i am not looking for time period correct i just want a good replacement i looked at a shimano alivio rd itm410 it says 7/8 i figuire that means 7or8 speed on the bad boy there's a hanger attached to the frame i think the alivio is direct mount does this matter this is new to me i've got the mechanical skills but the formulas, chain wrap , and all i'm still trying to learn it seems its a hanger from the frame to the shifter can i remove it and attach it to the new derail

I'm assuming you are looking for a rear derailleur. I'm not sure if cable pull changed between 8 and 9 speed SRAM rear shifters. I have new 9 speed SRAM RDs on the shelf, not sure about 8. I'll check 8/9 compatibility.

Actually, your bike should be 9 speed according to the catalog. In that case I should have something that will work. I know I have a new X5 on the shelf. It's the next lower group from X7 but should work fine.
