Hi everyone, my name is Fernando and I live in Switzerland.

After more than 10 years without a bike, I moved and now have a 2-kilometer commute to the train station, perfect for riding. I started my search, looking for something inexpensive since it must stay outside and there's too much theft at the train station. I quickly turned to used bikes. I found an F800 SL locally, with many new parts, but the headshok wasn't working. After changing the seals and adding oil, the shock and lockout now work. However, the bottom of the piston is scratched.

Then my wife said she'd like a bike too. I found an F500, which needed a good overhaul, and the headshok was also non-functional. Someone had tried to unscrew the shock via the lockout; the lockout valve is in pieces, and the shock was full of metal fragments and dust. After cleaning , changing the seals , i put heavier oil in the damper and it works perfectly; no binding, the shock absorber functions flawlessly but with no lockup.

After that, I found a frame. The plan was to completely rebuild both Headshok shocks using parts from this one… but i couldn't bring myself to sacrifice it. So here's the Jekyll 900 built with used and salvaged parts.

The forum has been a goldmine of information, and the members' projects are very inspiring. I'll continue to maintain my bikes, but I might like to acquire a bike with a Lefty in the future.

Have a good day, everyone!

Welcome. Regardless of the functionality of the Headshok forks on you bikes, they look great! Be careful though, you might become like a lot of us, you'll wind up with more than the three bikes you already have.

I know… I put a lot of faith in the dissuasive effect of my lock. There are a lot of poorly secured, more modern bikes around here; I just hope mine isn't the first one on the list
