M200SE

Hi!
My name is Charles Luck from Pompano Beach, FL.

I need a timely response to this, since I have an appointment later today to see and perhaps purchase this bike.

The bike is an M200SE in Black, is 1996 the only year this model was made?
Is it worth pursuing this bike?
Consider that I am not a trail rider, mostly urban city parks.

I feel all Cannondale are worth ridding. It depends on the style of ridding you are looking for. This bike would be a great city bike with slick tires on it.

Thank you Brian.

As this is a Cannondale fan club, I guess I should have expected that. LOL

Considering that I am 60 years old, and seeking to improve my physical conditioning, I'll begin with mostly paved/concrete surfaces, and if there is a mild trail, I'll give it a whirl. If I find that the seating position is too far forward, can you imagine installing a raised handlebar, without having to replace the controls?

If the bars are raised up, you will need to have new cables. And if you are going to do that, might as well go all the way up. with a high rise stem, and riser bars. Just remember, these parts will cost money. Sometimes it might be worth it to find a bike that is already upright.

Yes, I agree...
New cables would be a must, for a bicycle of that age, in any event.
Although, I was thinking of fitting a riser bar within the same existing stem.
Therefore, you are correct, if a new stem is required, I would question the value of purchasing this particular bike.
Thanks for your insight.
Enjoy your weekend.

The bike is black, and was listed on Offerup for $80-; but it rained and we never coordinated another meeting.
A few days later, I received a message from Offerup that the bike had been updated to $60-.
So, I tried and tried to contact this woman but she never responded. She must've been pissed, and decided not to sell it to me.

In the end, I ended up with a Trek that I paid $50- for, it cleaned up really well, despite needing some new cables.
I learned... sitting with my rear up higher than my wrists, is for a younger man. Because of the vintage stem, a new quill, stem, and 9" riser bars are in my future, regardless of which bike I end up with. If I can find another Cannondale for a price that a thirty year old bike is worth, I'll sell the Trek.

I don't pay for perceived value.
