    Broken cable guide

I found the reason for the binding rear brake. It was in the cable housing. A flat spot that is right where the housing has to make a bend exiting the brake lever. Fortunately I had another new section of 11/87 dated Dia Compe housing. Installed, re-wrapped bars and ops check normal. Now I...

    Broken cable guide

While troubleshooting a binding rear brake on my BL I put too much stress on a cable guide and it broke. They must get brittle with age as I don’t think I had a lot of force on the plastic guide. Any suggestions for a fix would be greatly appreciated.

    1987 SR400, Mint color

I do remember the Crest Cannondale. The gears in my head spun for a bit trying to figure out how to get it out West.

    1987 SR400, Mint color

I do like the color and I don’t know why. Could be an 80’s vibe thing. It’s a 60cm frame. I could ride it. Neat find!

    RD issue or frame flex?

I’m on day 10 of the “injury”. I had a couple of awkward, semi heavy tasks at work that week before the injury event that may have contributed. The day of the injury was ride three for the week at temperatures of 19-22 degrees F. I was wearing a new riding pants style that wasn’t adequately...

Very close to being back on the road. The bike that is. Me, not so much. Lower back issue.

    RD issue or frame flex?

Thanks @black lightning 1987 I did find a set by FSA on the bay. Looking forward to finishing up the project and getting the Batbike back on the road.

    RD issue or frame flex?

The one part that is. In my master plan. And maybe the crank “fixing” bolts. Which, by the way are a major pain in the neck to source. I’ve got a set on the way that are new. But aren’t the exact part number for FC-5500 series. If they don’t fit I’ll just go to the hardware store and buy some...

    RD issue or frame flex?

Thanks all! I do have a new cassette @black lightning 1987 it’s a SRAM 9 speed. It is part of the final mods that I plan on doing soon. I’ve slowly been converting the bike over to 105 components. Just the brifters and crank assembly remain. Those parts are awaiting in a box in the shop for me...

    RD issue or frame flex?

Chain is good. Not at the .5 wear indicator yet. Buuuut, I do see sharks teeth on the cogs. Guess my eyes weren’t trained enough awhile back…

    RD issue or frame flex?

I have not checked the B screw lately. Will do. Thanks. Original cassette, and likely the chain as well.

    RD issue or frame flex?

Hmm, no I don't think the derailleur is moving. Because I've gotten off the bike and lifted the rear wheel with one hand and pedalled with the other and the chain returns to the previously selected cog. But the jockey wheel portion of the RD is usually pulled forward. Chain bind of some sort...

    RD issue or frame flex?

I’m unable to determine a cause for my chain attempting to change gears on the rear cogs when starting from a dead stop. This is on my 2001 R400; triple front, 8 speed rear. It only happens when stopped at a stop sign on a slight incline. It is where I’ve got a busy street to cross that...
