Where did you ride your Cannondale today?

Just a short commute on the XS800 today to retrieve a tractor and a couple of wagons full of corn. Neighbor has made this dairy cow out of round hay bales. Scale probably doesn't come across in the photo but the hay probably equals the weight of two or three cows. Sadly the last dairy farm in...

    New Cannondale owner in Colorado

I tend to shy away from light colored tape as it doesn't seem to take long to start looking grungy. I wash my hands at least ten times a day but they must always be dirty when I ride the bikes. Brown with a matching saddle would be fine, black is a little bit too plain on a blue bike...

Wanted Genuine Cannondale Front and Rear Pannier Racks

Here's what the rack looks like, mounted on my 1993 M800. I haven't gotten around to checking to see if I have one on a touring frame but I think it would fit fine. They are stamped 25 kg weight limit I think, but look to be plenty sturdy. I haven't been to the attic but I think there's still...

Where did you ride your Cannondale today?

Cool in the mornings? Looks like fog coming off the water.

    New Cannondale owner in Colorado

Welcome. That SR400 looks to be in great shape for its age and all original as far as I can tell. Try some lacquer thinner on a rag to clean up the brake hoods. Super V looks nice too. Wish I could find a good deal on one locally.

Wanted Genuine Cannondale Front and Rear Pannier Racks

I have some new rear Cannondale rear racks in the attic. Purchased from Bikewagon about 10 years ago. I should have one on a bike somewhere but don't remember what bike. Will look for one.

    Hello from a 80's C'dale Employee

At least it's a pretty generic font. A facsimile shouldn't be too hard to reproduce. If you do it you should make a bunch of them.

    Hello from a 80's C'dale Employee

My impression was that it was for the ovalized seat stays, though I'm surprised that could be patented.

    1986 SR1000

You have the build date right. It's a 54 cm. The brake lever hoods haven't been available from Shimano for some time - planned obsolescence. I'd guess that your components (assuming nice condition) might fetch $300-400 if sold individually on eBay. I've seen early road framesets sell for...

    1986 SR1000

Where did you purchase it? Black doesn't show as an option in the US catalog but could have been a mid year introduction. I'd start by trying to find sales of the individual components on eBay. Condition is everything in the vintage market. I think the bike would be worth more with original...

    M600 & M800 Beasts of the Easts

Great that you found a reasonably priced frame. I like the period correct build. My 1993 M800 is one of my favorites. I've never felt the need to change anything from the stock build.

    Cannondale History

Thanks. I really appreciate you digging up all the old documents. I didn't remember that even though it is posted in the catalog/ads section.

    Control Tech 1 1/8 - More info

Measure the internal diameter of your fork. I don't own a 2.8 frame of that vintage but my understanding is that the outside diameter of the fork was 1 1/4", which would make the internal diameter 1 1/8", or 28.6 mm. Basically the only design/dimension difference between a Control Tech quill...

    Parts Bike/R600 Upgrade?

Thanks. I didn't know aero bars existed that weren't round but assumed that they were round enough to take conventional bar end shifters. I've long given up on time trials but they are nice on a gravel/cx/touring bike. Let me know if you come up with pricing.

    Cannondale History

Thanks for the Bicycling article. I never noticed the steel thread inserts. Will have to check my 1984 frame. Anyone want to test standing on a bare frame at the dropouts for me?

    Hello from a 80's C'dale Employee

I'm guessing the book is hard bound and won't lay completely flat to scan. I would try a few pages and see if the scans come out mostly legible.

    87 sm project

Looks great. I have at least one pair of the roller cam brakes but have never tried them. Lots of SunTour stuff on hand here and I'm not doing much bike building these days. Let me know what you're looking for.

    Parts Bike/R600 Upgrade?

Sounds like a great buy. I would try to save the frame. First would get some good penetrating oil in the seat tube, then clamp the post in a vise and try twisting the frame. On frames where that wouldn't loosen the post I have cut the post off, leaving enough to get hold of. Then cut a slot...

    Control Tech 1 1/8 - More info

Welcome. I believe that the 1993 fork was 1 1/4", so the quill diameter is 1 1/8". It would have been -15 or -17 degrees but Control Tech made other angles. There are a few on ebay but they are all MTB stems. 25.4 mm drop bars exist but the MTB stems might have to be modified to get a drop...
