Bottom Bracket Dimensions for 2002 r400

I think that the crank that came on the bike was FC-3304, a Sora Octalink triple. The original bottom bracket was a BB-ES30 with a 118 mm Octalink V2 spindle. Universal has them for $18. https://www.universalcycles.com/shopping/product_details.php?id=81243&category=347 The BB and crank...

    Serial Number confusion

My 2005 frame has the size at the upper right (as you read it) corner. It's away from the other numbers, by itself just to the outside of the cable guide. The size is the only information in the post 2001 serial numbers outside of (possibly) factory build sheets. Since you know the year and...

Bottom Bracket Dimensions for 2002 r400

I'm guessing that it has a Sora triple crank. Check the model number that is stamped in the crank arms, should be something like FC-3303. With the model number of the crank it should be possible to find a Shimano document that specifies the BB spindle length.

    volvo team frame number

I don't believe there were any SRAM branded components in 1997 other than shifters. There was a full line of Sachs components that were still based on the all metal Sachs/Maillard designs - I have the catalog here. The first Sachs derailleur to show up on a Cannondale was the Plasma rear...

    volvo team frame number

I can't tell if my frame has a number in that spot as it is mostly covered by the cable guide. Yours may have extra numbering related to it being a team bike, which it certainly looks to be. It's missing some original parts though, and I don't know exactly what the team used. I'm guessing...

    volvo team frame number

I think there is something to the left of the A. Looks more like a 1 than an I, but that wouldn't make any sense for the model year. I checked the closest year frame I have here, a 1995 M900. It is clearly marked FK at upper left for 1994, November. I suspect that your frame was meant to be...

    volvo team frame number

Hard to read but looks like it may be IA upper left, which would translate to 1997, January. Team bikes were Viper Red at the time. Assume that's a Super V. If a team bike it would have had top end parts on it. Saeco team frames had the rider's name abbreviated at lower right on the bottom...

Replacement forks for 2002 Scalpel 800

Nice find. I'd recommend having Mendoncyclesmith look at your fork. You could replace the fork with lots of other forks using reducer cups but the bike will be best with the Headshok fork.

Will be interested in what they found for a fork. I have lots of parts here, might have the shifters and derailleur depending on what model you want. Probably have some NOS period correct tires but not the Continentals that were on most road models in the mid 1990s.

    1988 Black Lightning Resto

I don't ride my BL very often either, I'd hate to damage it. I always liked the fades, have never seen the black/red/yellow except in the catalog. 2001 is the correct year. I didn't remember that the late CAAD4 frames have 1 1/8" head tubes. That's a nice plus as it is getting harder to...

    Recovered - Stolen '96 R900

Here's a nice Enve carbon fork. It has a tapered steerer so you'd have to use a reducer in the head tube of the frame to take the 1 1/8" top bearing. One advantage would be that it's going to be much easier to find a 1 1/8" stem compared to a 1 1/4"...

    Recovered - Stolen '96 R900

Are you saying that the ID of the steerer is 1 1/8"? That would make the OD 1 1/4" most likely. I did some asking around about other companies that used 1 1/4" forks. Santana (threaded) was mentioned as one that existed in the 1990s, and Giant and Canyon were said to have made carbon forks...

    Recovered - Stolen '96 R900

Yes it does. I guess that I didn't really believe that 1 1/4" road forks existed, so when I saw that your fork was clearly over 1" didn't bother to look at the ruler - assumed it was 1 1/8". The fork is going to be a major obstacle. If the original isn't damaged I would put whatever effort it...

I misunderstood what you were saying about the serial number, didn't realize that your frame had one on the BB shell. What's damaged on the original fork? Guessing that a 1 1/8" Sub1 is going to be tough to find. My 2.8 frames are all 1" head tube. If you can't use the original, I think the...

    Recovered - Stolen '96 R900

After looking at the 1993 catalog, it appears that there were threaded Sub One forks. The 2.8 frame page (pg 27) says that it is all aluminum and 1.25". 1.25" headset doesn't seem likely though they were used on some Cannondale MTBs at the time. It could be 1.125" though. Can you measure the...

    Recovered - Stolen '96 R900

My guess is that's either a 1992 or 1993 model frame. Our serial number section says that the last year for serial numbers on the stays was 1992. Not sure if that means 1992 production date or 1992 model year. If production date, it could be a 1993 model made in 1992. 1992 road bikes in the...

    Cad2 F500

I've only had one of my Headshok forks apart but that's the way I remember them, in plastic cages. I wonder if there isn't a universal joint that has the right needles. I have a box of different sized ones in the shop if you end up taking it apart. Did you ask about them at Mendon Cyclesmith?

Road seatpost and front mech clamps

Both 2.8 frames have the original seat collar, but neither is pristine. One was evidently worn (filed?) down on the upper back side. The other has a bit of damage to the sharp edge at the front top, guessing shop wear or shipping damage. Pictures were taken with flash which highlighted every...
