Purchased this as a frame only in 2003. This is the bike that started VintageCannondale.com, which started in 2006 from all the data that I found collecting info about this bike. I loved this bike. Got this second hand, gratis (thanks Steve!) it's an M400, not dissimilar to another old C'dale I have, except this one has a replaceable derailliuer hanger, and a rigid fork. I built it up with mostly old parts, running a 34 chainring up front and 7 speed in the back, worked by a homemade drillium derailliuer. The handlebar is an Answer Hyperlight, and I got my hands on some funky old school neon colored cable housing. I traded another frame for some anodized parts and it's sporting...

This was taken out of its original box about 3 years ago. The only non original parts are the tubes, tires, and hand grips.
I've been riding this bike for over 25 years. The hubs, BB, crank set, and most everything was installed summer of 1989. It's a rock solid bike. I still have fun riding it. The following are some of the parts I put on the bike:

I found her at a garage sale 3 years ago. He was asking $60. I haggled him down to $35. I could tell that she was ridden for a very short time, and then garaged for a long time. At that time I had A 26\" chrome GT with front suspension. I was initial plan was to get the Cannondale tuned up and make a few bucks off her. But when I got home all I did was apply some Tri-Flow and put some air in the tires, and I took her around the block. I never did ride that GT ever again.

I purchased this bike new from Alan's Cyclery in Oceanside Ca. when I was stationed at Camp Pendleton, Ca. Marine Corps Base. I own 3 Trek full suspension bikes also but this has always been my favorite. Most of the components are original except the head set. I thought it be great to share it on this web site. Enjoy
