I think that is a 1998 R500, same frame Cipollini won multiple grand tour stages on. It will be a bit heavier than current bikes but it should be capable of being reasonably competitive. I couldn't identify all the components from the photos, so hard to estimate value.

The frame could be from 1995 or 1996 model year given the August 1995 date code. My guess is 1995 as it looks like it could be the Iceland Green paint that was on the R300 that year. Looks to have the aluminum fork that the lower to mid range road bikes came with in those years. The components...

I don't believe that Cannondale ever did give the Super V frame a CAAD number.

I like the yellow better. That said, on a bike that original I would probably look for some skinwalls. Don't know what's available these days.

For the rear you might fabricate a sheet metal bracket from the original mount (or mounting hole) to the rack mount boss on the frame. Was there originally a similar bracket on the front fender?

I checked my 1988 SR800 and the serial number is on the underside of the drive side seat stay. My three 1987 SR models all have the serial on the underside of the left chain stay. I can't answer your question with any certainty but if there is no serial number your premise makes as much...

Looks like the rear section of housing could be shortened by 2 or 3 inches, but I have no experience with SRAM post 10 speed. Sounds like it will be good once the final adjustments are made and the bike looks great. Glad Johnny was around to make recommendations on this newfangled stuff.

30.2 is what you want. Headset cups are designed to be slightly oversize so they don't wear and begin to rattle around. The acceptable range for the inside diameter of the head tube is 30.05 to 30.1 mm.

I wonder if Blueberry didn't become Team Blue about ten years later. Certainly looks close. You might check out the nail polish aisle. This Sally Hansen 505 is close to team blue, but a little bit on the green end of the range.

My guess is that to most of the factory employees it was simply a job, and they had no interest in bikes otherwise. I would have thought that there were some that were interested though. I remember a lot of photos in the catalogs of Cannondale employees on their bikes but can't remember any...

Considering the number of bikes that they churned out, the factory must have employed a lot of people. It's a bit surprising that we don't have regular input from a few of them.
