    More recent Cannondale Synapse

Yes, spoke prices are stupid throughout the spectrum but you're really going to pay for wheel specific spokes. Not sure if even Campagnolo specific spokes are $15 each though.

Vintage 1997 Canondale F900 parts requested

Glad you are OK. I think your bike may be a 1997 or 1998 as the 1999 F900 was a CAAD3 and yours is a CAAD2. Definitely aluminum. Is the photo after the collision? What all needs to be replaced?

Looking for Iris Blue paint match

I usually just go to the nail polish aisle at WalMart. Sometimes works well, sometimes not so well. Colors can look right in the bottle but be too thin to cover well or dry to a different shade. You might look through the paint codes here and see if Iris Blue is listed...

If you had the money to buy a new bike would you?

Have you checked stock at local (even semi-local) dealers? Been a long time since I bought a new bike but you used to be able to get a substantial discount once the next year's models were in stock. I bought my first Cannondale in January or February of 1990. It was a 1989 model and I think I...

More tube area = more color.

    Seat Stay Diameter Question

I think you mean seat tube diameter. It will take a 31.8 mm clamp (some manufactures label them 32 mm). Be sure to get a derailleur that is compatible with your shifter. Generally speaking, same brand and same era - probably 9 speed in 1999.

    More recent Cannondale Synapse

I might try to salvage that crank. Where did the spoke break? Spoke prices have gotten way out of hand. No more 25 cent DTs these days.

That head tube angle is one way to avoid toe overlap.

If you had the money to buy a new bike would you?

I never spend anywhere close to what a comparable new bike would cost when buying or building a used bike. By comparable I mean performance not necessarily specific components. I doubt my $1000 CAAD6 R4000 with Chorus 10 gives up anything in performance to a current CAAD13 with Ultegra...

    SOLD 1994 Cannondale M300

I'd probably be more interested in the SM500 just because of the size. I'm pretty sure it's a 1991. Frame and fork would be the same as my stolen SM800, only the paint is different.

Did you intall the Lefty and XT? Catalog shows a Fox fork and SRAM on the Prophet 2.

    SOLD 1994 Cannondale M300

The paint on the M300 is what I am looking for to replicate my first Cannondale, which was stolen in Champaign IL in 1995. It was a 20" frame and if I was making the new purchase again (circa 1990) I'd want a 22". I can ride an 18" frame but the saddle to bar differential is pretty...

    R600 Revisited

I checked two of my Cannondale road bikes with AL forks. There are no visible seam lines at either the top or bottom of the fork legs. Guessing you may have a carbon fork, likely with an AL crown and steel steer tube.

    SOLD 1994 Cannondale M300

Guessing it might be 18". Check the last two digits of the frame code, just in front of the left chain stay on the underside of the BB shell. Is it black with gold fleck in the top coat? I think it might be 1995 based on the model decal style. All the mountain bikes in the 1994 catalog have...

Wanted Plan To Make Downtube Shifter Boss / cable stop mounts

I think that the plastic washer would work fine when used with STI/Ergopower cable stops. For use with down tube shifters I think it would be a good idea to have the 3 mm indexing pin added. It could be added to the machined aluminum part by drilling and tapping a hole for a 3 mm screw. The...

    Delta v omega

I shouldn't ever trust my memory. I was thinking 1993 was the first year for Ritchey rims. Cannondale actually used them as far back as 1990. It's interesting that the higher end bikes in 1992 came with Sun rims, while the mid range had Ritcheys. Seems like Ritcheys would have been more...

    R600 Revisited

I still ride Look Deltas on most of my road bikes. They can be purchased very reasonably and go for a lot of miles without service. Sounds like you need to back the release tension off, at least on one pedal. I find that if tension is too tight I can often get quicker release by twisting my...

    Delta v omega

I think the XTR crank is the logical choice. On 1992 and 1993 Cannondale MTBs, if the crank didn't match the group it was generally a Ritchey. I haven't owned either but suspect that the XTR is the nicer of the two. A SunTour XC Pro microdrive might offer a bit of weight savings (especially...

thought I would say G'day again.

Good to see you are still with us Geoff. I haven't done the math but I suspect that the average age of my Cannondales is around 30 years. In a couple of years I will be able to ride one that's 40. Don't know if I will still be riding when it reaches 50 but it's nice to think I might.

Wanted Plan To Make Downtube Shifter Boss / cable stop mounts

Since the diameter of the down tubes taper it depends on where you measure. I removed the shifter mount assembly from a CAAD2 frame and the down tube measures 41 mm at the mounting hole. Other frames that I measured were in the 44-45 mm range (without removing the shifter mounts). Since...
