Getting my 1984 ST-500 ready to ride again

Let me know if you need anything. Lots of vintage stuff here. Too bad the RD is gone. It's about $80 on ebay.

    f700 caad4

Check out the 2001 catalog. Scan isn't very good though. I have original catalogs from 2000 and 2002 but not 2001.

    f700 caad4

Welcome! Nice looking F700. I like that color, called Goldenrod I think. Where in the UK? I'd like to see some trail pics.

    What model is it?

Pretty sure that's a 2001 Jekyll 2000SL. Originally had a Headshok fork. Check out the 2001 catalog and see if some of components match up. Check for a two letter code on the BB shell. It should end in L or M. L indicates 2000 and M 2001 manufacture date. 2001 model year bikes could be...

Where can I find an original Castle Tool to service my DD60?

Could you measure to the outside edges of two opposite pin holes? Wondering if ISIS BB cup tool could be modified to work. https://www.ebay.com/itm/PARK-TOOL-BBT-18-8-NOTCH-ISIS-CUPS-BOTTOM-BRACKET-BIKE-BICYCLE-TOOL/201164648282?epid=1900015796&hash=item2ed658ef5a:g:X3UAAOSwdTJaV6Dg:rk:48:pf:0...

Help with id of a Canondale

Tough one for me as I don't know the newer bikes very well. Without more details I am pretty much in the dark.

Help with id of a Canondale

26" wheels or 700C? I would have guessed it might be a Quick, but they are all 700C I think. No model name decals anywhere? Details of components might help.

Looking to confirm my Cannondale SM500 year (and model frankly)

What width are the Hookworms? I've had similar tires from various manufacturers in the past. Ritchey Tom Slicks were one. I think they came in 1.5" and another size which I can't recall.

Looking to confirm my Cannondale SM500 year (and model frankly)

Nice to see a bike of that age in such good condition.

    Carbon fork ID

As far as I know, only the R900 had a carbon fork in '95. I believe Advanced Composites did make Cannondale's early carbon forks. I'd guess that is a Cannondale fork, probably from around 1998, when 43 rake was used on all road frames. In 1995 54.5 - 60 cm frames cane with forks that had...

Looking to confirm my Cannondale SM500 year (and model frankly)

Looks like you have it right. Components should be mostly SunTour Alpha 3000 with a Sugino VP crank.

October of '95 -- but what size?

Not sure if you can decipher frame size from the code. A 58 cm 2.8 measures about 57 cm from center of BB to top of top tube. I am sure, just measured one that has a size sticker on it.

    POLL: to vintage or not.

I don't have much that qualifies as modern. Newest MTB is a Serotta soft tail from around 2002. Newest road is a carbon Raleigh from around 2006. Most of my bikes are in the 1985-2005 range. I ride whatever is a recent build. I think the last road ride was on a steel Look. Last MTB ride...

What is a vary clean red shred worth?

Member hAROLD is looking for one. His email is in the link. Too bad he's at the opposite end of the country. http://community.vintagecannondale.com/threads/red-shred-iso.158/

    SOLD : 1988/89 20" Mountain Frame

I wish it had a fork but it would work well for my '89 SM800 reproduction project. I have the SunTour XCD group on hand except the hubs. Anyone have the steel Tange fork?

    1992 Cannondale Delta V 900

Looks like mine, size smaller I think. See gallery. I'd need to see more detailed photos and list of components to put a price on it.

    1997 Cannondale R200

My guess is all CAAD2 road bikes are fairly rare. 1997 was the first year for the CAAD nomenclature on road frames. Only the R200 and R300 were CAAD2, the rest were CAAD3. In 1998 and 1999 the CAAD2 models were R300 and R500. That was the extent of CAAD2 road models. My take on production...

Source of metal for USA made CAAD bikes?

There were some frames that even had Alcoa decals on them.

    1985 ST400 on ebay

I'd never seen one, thanks for the link. I have a 1991 Shimano catalog and there were no road triples that year. Always assumed that applied to the previous era as well. Was aware of the Campagnolo triples, in fact bid on one recently. Yes, pretty sure I put a 39 tooth middle ring on my...

    1985 ST400 on ebay

I still have a blue one. I updated it with 7 speed bar end shifters and an early XT rear derailleur, tubular rims with knobby CX tires. Only thing I didn't care for were the original 45/50 chainrings. I think I swapped the 45 for a 38 or 39. It would have been a nicer touring bike with a...
